At the beginning of the story, the author describes Mrs.Mallard asa woman having the distinctive trait ofself-assertion which is constrained by her marriage. She seems to be the "victim" of an overbearing butoccasionally loving husband. Being told of her husband's death,"She did not hear the story as many womenhave heard the same, with a paralyzed inablity to accept its significance." This shows that she is not totallylocked into marriage as most women in her time. Although "she had loved him--sometimes," sheunconsciously does not want to accept blindly the situation of being controlled by her husband. Mrs.Mallardis not a one-dimentional, clone-like woman having an expected, acceptable emotional response for every life condition.
Oh my Goodness, the video you've posted impressed me so much, I felt even the lump in the throat..As I understood it introduces the plot of the text you are analyzing, and it's gorgeous. I liked the title and the message of the author. But I'm not still sure what feelings the girl had when she saw her husband in the end just before heart attack..?
